Mikayla Brown

Who Am I? ​

As a senior at the University of Wisconsin Madison, I study Information Science with a certificate in Entrepreneurship and Digital Studies. I am originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where I worked on swift coding, developing IOS mobile applications, as well as serving in many student leadership positions in high school. My interests lie at the intersection of technology, design, and business, as it allows me to be creative in UX/UI design and coding concepts, as well as being detail-orientated and proactive on the business side. I am passionate about bringing diverse minds together to create something beautiful, which is what led me to work for an advertising agency as a project management intern. I got to see all kinds of people with different experiences and backgrounds sharing ideas in a healthy environment where everyone can thrive.

In college, I am president of my volunteering organization, Students Today Leaders Forever, where I coordinate with organizations to volunteer around the city of Madison and on campus and manage a board of eight other people. I am eager to help others and push them to do their best so they can show off their skills and blossom in their surroundings. ​After college, I am looking to pursue a role in Project/Product Management at an advertising or digital marketing agency. Later in life, I strive to open a non-profit organization for children in low-income communities and minorities to teach them about the many opportunities in the technology industry, from coding to design and business. As a woman of color, I want to set an example for other kids who may be afraid to chase after their dreams in tech and inspire them to try something new.
